Class Description

This 4-hour class is designed to give participants a basic overview of diabetes and how to manage their condition.

Topics include:

  • Understanding how the body processes food into energy
  • Importance of – and how to – track blood glucose levels
  • How to create a meal plan to maintain healthy blood sugar levels
  • Review of different medications or devices that people may use to help manage their condition
  • Importance of staying healthy and managing their diabetes to avoid common complications of the disease

(new diagnosis or have been living with diabetes but hasn’t attended class)

Every month there are 4 classes offered at the Peninsula / Newport News location:

1st Wednesday of each month, 8 am – 12 pm

2nd Monday of each month, 4 pm – 8 pm

2nd Friday of each month from 8am – 12 pm

4th Monday of each month, 12 pm – 4 pm

4th Friday of each month, 8 am – 12 pm


Every month there is 1 class offered at the Williamsburg location:

2nd Thursday of each month, 8 am – 12 pm
